5 ways to travel without leaving the house

This last year has been so difficult for everyone, and wanted to be able to create some light relief so that you can all get out of the house without breaking lockdown! I know the UK have recently gone back into lockdown for 4 weeks and that really, really sucks. My heart goes out to all of you.

In any case, here is a list of things to watch/do to keep yourself distracted from being indoors. Make you feel like your travelling without actually leaving the house:

1. Travel Documentaries

There is literally no better way to travel the world than watching others going through the trials and tribulations, while you are sitting on your comfortable sofa. There are so many out there, from anything David Attenborough brings out to something as light as 'Jack Whitehall's Travels with my Father' (Which has just come out with another series - hilarious as always)

2. Books

It sounds so cliché but it literally the best way to get out of your head and into another world. I read to escape so most of the books I read are fictions. My favourites include:

  • The Alchemist: https://amzn.to/2AwvKZP

  • The Beauty of Decisions: https://www.amazon.com.au/Beauty-Decisions-Arti-Rajput-ebook/dp/B077TGRVJC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=the+beauty+of+decisions&qid=1590509050&sr=8-1

3. Cooking

When travelling the biggest thing I use is my taste to explore a country. The food of a country can tell you so much about the place and give you an insight into how people live there. Also, I love food. I live to eat. Food is always the most important thing I want to try when I'm travelling. Recently I have really enjoyed cooking more! Try cooking dishes from your favourite country/a country you want to visit.

4. Get creative

I loved making travel albums during the first lockdown. I collated all the photos I had taken over the last 4 years and created a scrapbook with images/tickets/anything else I had collected during my travels. It not only reminds of things you may have forgotten about but also means you create a beautiful keepsake to look back on forever.

5. Follow travel blogs/YouTubes/Instagrams

What better way to distract yourselves from being at home than to spend all your time on social media! (I'm joking, please don't spend all your time on social media) BUT it is a great way to see how people on the other side of the world are living. There is some amazing content on the internet that should definitely get more attention and this is your chance to find it! Small creators really appreciate every view, like, comment and share of their posts. By watching someone's video or commenting on their picture you could be making their day!

On that note: Share, like and comment on this blog post! It will give me extreme joy.
